The Dark Hedges Winter Visit

Jan 1, 2018
1 min read

Dee and I accompanied our special friends, visiting from London, on a visit to the iconic Dark Hedges between Christmas and the New Year. This avenue of giant beech trees, made famous in the HBoS series Game of Thrones ® , looked absolutely stunning in the crisp winter sunshine. Sadly, a number of trees were victims of hurricane winds in January 2016 - the forlorn stumps mark their former positions of majestic glory. The wood from the fallen trees has been used to craft ten doors, each with intricate relief designs depicting the tale of Season 6. Inspired by our visit to the hedges and with our 'Journey of Doors'® passports in hand, we eagerly set off to visit some of the doors!
